(BALTIMORE, Md.) – The National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE) has selected Data Solutions & Technology Incorporated (DST) as the recipient of the Eleanor J. Williams Bronze Eagle Award. This award recognizes organizations and corporations whose efforts have demonstrated the tenets of equal employment opportunity and have made significant contributions to the efforts, objectives, and goals of the NBCFAE.
“Data Solutions & Technology was selected because of its team’s high standards in conducting business in regards to minorities and women,” stated Dr. Annette Douglas, NBCFAE board member. “The company’s environment is also conducive to fostering cooperation between individuals, organizations, and the community-at-large.”
In 1976 the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees (NBCFAE) was established to combat discrimination and disparate treatment of Blacks, women and other minorities in the Federal Aviation Administration. The bronze eagle award was established in 1988 and was recently renamed to honor an NBCFAE member, Eleanor Williams, who devoted more than 30 years of service to the organization.
“We are pleased to recognize Data Solutions & Technology with our prestigious Eleanor J. Williams award,” stated Roosevelt Lenard Jr., NBCFAE National President. “The company represents an innovative and honorable spirit that so embodies the strength and character of the award’s namesake.”
As the first African-American woman certified air traffic controller and the first African-American woman to manage a major en-route air traffic control center, the Cleveland ARTCC in Ohio which is the nation's second-busiest en-route air traffic control facility, Eleanor Williams was a national aviation pioneer.
“We are deeply honored to be recognized by NBCFAE in such a significant way,” stated President and CEO Deborah Scott Thomas. “Our company philosophy is ‘my success is your success, and your success is my success.’ Therefore, NBCFAE’s recognition is an acknowledgement of DST’s resilient culture which values every employee and strives to be a positive and active participant in the community.”
